World-class training for Saudi youth
Two local organizations have signed an agreement to ensure that training is provided for young Saudis under an internationally recognized and accredited curriculum.
Nesma training center for young people signed the agreement with Majid community development organization at the center’s headquarters in Jeddah on Thursday.
Noura Al-Turki, executive director of human resources and social responsibility at Nesma, said the aim is to ensure young people have skills so that they can find jobs.
Hammam Zarah, director general of the Majid community development organization, said there would be 25 training courses offered to 500 beneficiaries over 18 months at Nesma’s training center.
He said that after the training, the organization would attempt to find them jobs. The training of trainers would start soon, in preparation for the courses, which would commence next year.
Bassim Nasser, director of programs at the International Organization for Youth, said that the skills program is important. Those who have already undergone training include 150,000 young men and women across the world, with more than 6,500 in Saudi Arabia.
A recent study has shown that 26 percent of young people under the age of 26 do not have jobs in some Arab countries, one of the highest unemployment rates among young people in the world.
