Education Director Abdullah bin Ahmad Al-Thaqafi has sent a letter of appreciation to Custodian of the Holy Mosques King Salman for the invitation extended to the talented US clockmaker, Ahmed Mohamed Al-Hassan.

He said the king was always in the forefront in supporting Islam and Muslims all over the world. Al-Thaqafi also thanked Education Minister Azzam Al-Dakhil for asking the Jeddah Education Directorate to invite the innovative student.

He made the comments during a reception of Ahmed Mohamed and his family at the Jeddah Education Directorate headquarters. In attendance were Assistant Education Director Sadiq Khoja and a number of students at Al-Faisaliah School for the Gifted in Jeddah.

Ahmed’s parents in turn said they were very happy with the reception they had been given and appreciated the role of King Salman in supporting inventors in different fields.

Al-Thaqafi praised the student for his inventiveness and innovation and wished him great success and said Jeddah schools would welcome him whenever he wanted to come.

There was much discussion between Ahmed and the other guests about the clock he made and which was originally not recognized for what it was and he was actually handcuffed.

Ahmed in turn saw an invention by one of the Al-Faisaliah students, Abdullah Nazieh Al-Sheikh, which was related to a remote control that ran via a cell phone. Ahmed said this was the first time he had seen students concerned with inventions in schools.

At the end of the meeting, Al-Thaqafi presented the young inventor with a copy of the Holy Qur’an.
