King Salman calls for Arab-South American summit


Saudi Arabia’s King Salman sent invitations to leaders of Kuwait, Sudan and Yemen to attend the fourth Summit of Arab–South American countries.
Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz has called on Arab leaders to attend he Fourth Summit of Arab-South American countries set to be held in Riyadh next month.
The king sent invitations to Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, Sudan’s President Omar Hassan al-Bashir and Yemen’s President Abdrabbo Mansour Hadi to attend, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The Summit of South American-Arab Countries is a bi-regional mechanism for cooperation and political coordination, which gathers the 22 member-states of the Arab League and the 12 countries of South America.
It was first created after being proposed by Brazil and held its first meeting in 2005 in Brasilia. A second summit was held in Doha, Qatar, in 2009 and the last time in Lima, Peru, in October 2012.
