Man kills grandma, uncle and Asian couple
Police arrested a man with a previous criminal record who allegedly killed two of his relatives and two neighbors in the Al-Sail area, north of Taif.
Investigations are underway to determine the details of the crime.
Media spokesman for Makkah police Col. Ati bin Atiya Al-Qurashi said the Al-Sail police station received a call about a shooting accident. As soon as the call was received, a team was dispatched to the location.
Preliminary investigations showed that a 30-year-old citizen shot five people — a male citizen in his thirties, a female citizen in her seventies, an Asian expatriate and his wife, and another woman, who is now in hospital in stable condition.
He said a police team has been formed, under the supervision of police director Brig. Gen. Abdulaziz bin Othman Al-Souli, to investigate the shooting. Jeddah police arrested the accused and handed him over to the concerned authorities.
Local media reported that the suspect broke into the house of his relatives in Al-Jawazi neighborhood around 2 p.m. carrying a gun. He shot and killed his paternal grandmother, who was 70 years old, and his uncle, and injured his aunt.
Sources said the suspect ran out of the door after the shooting. While fleeing, he stumbled onto their Burmese neighbors. He shot the couple and fled the scene.
He was later arrested after calling his sister demanding protection and threatening to kill her if she refused.
