Hospitals told to stand by for dust-hit patients
The Directorate General of Health Affairs in Riyadh has issued a circular to all hospitals in the Saudi capital to be fully prepared to accept patients suffering from the effects of dust storms.
“Dust storms in the Saudi capital this season aggravate respiratory diseases like asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, pulmonary embolism or occupational lung disease,” said Faisal Al-Bawardi, acting director general.
Other respiratory disorders include pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis, and occupational lung disease, which is caused by harmful fumes from coal.
