Kuwaiti actor held for ‘indecency’

People walk inside a shopping mall

A popular Kuwaiti actor has been arrested by the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (Haia) for allegedly mixing with women in a mall and taking pictures with them.

News of his arrival in the capital was announced on a social media website, a local daily reported on Saturday, adding that the actor had not been identified.

The actor was escorted out of the commercial center by Haia officers and taken to the commission’s center in the King Fahd neighborhood, a source was quoted as saying.

Action will be taken against the man and a file has been sent to the police to complete the procedures, the source said.

The actor contravened the Kingdom’s regulations as he attracted female and male shoppers and took pictures with some females, the source added.
