SR25,000 fine for safety violation

Teams from the Ministry of Labor and the General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI) has been inspecting companies in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Abdullah Abu Thunyan, the ministry’s undersecretary of inspections and development of the labor environment, said Article 204 of the country’s Labor Law states that inspectors can include doctors, engineers, chemists and specialists in safety and health. He said companies face fines of up to SR25,000 for each offense.

He said companies need to take measures to protect employees from diseases and occupational hazards. The ministry said public complaints can be registered at 19911.
