The passport department will coordinate with banks to address the issue of updating the accounts of new Muqeem card holders, a top official has told our sister publication Urdu News.

Customers had complained to Arab News that some banks refused to accept their new Muqeem card and unfreeze their accounts until they produced an online copy of their renewed Iqama.

“We will coordinate with local bank authorities to solve the problem and send them all the required information about “Hawia Al-Muqeem”, said Lt. Gen. Khalafallah Al-Tuwairqi, director of the Passports Department (Jawazat) in Makkah Province.

Speaking after inaugurating the new expatriate families’ fingerprint center at Tahliya Mall, he said there are no complaints about the expatriate identity card (new Iqama). “If there are any problems, we will solve them as soon as possible,” said the official.

“Expatriates and citizens should provide a feedback on the new Iqama to improve our services,” he said.

He said: “We are moving to the digital online system and our objective is to provide all the services through the “Absheer or Muqeem” system to help people receive our services at their homes and offices without visiting the Jawazat office.”

The services also include transfer of information from an old passport to a new one, he added.

The timings at the Tahliya center for fingerprint of expatriate women will be from 10 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. and till 10 p.m. after the Asr prayer.
