The General Directorate for Health Affairs in Qassim has imposed fines amounting to SR647,000 on a number of medical facilities in the private sector in the region, according to an online publication report.

“The general directorate conducted inspections at various medical facilities and these were found to be lacking of certain medical and non-medical equipment,” said Mohammed Al-Saeed, director of the private health sector.

He added that the lack of medical equipment could not justify why these health facilities had been granted licenses to operate by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

He also said that the inspectors also found that some medical and technical licenses had also expired and there seemed to be no attempt to renew them.

Al-Saeed added that the inspectors also found that a number of drugs and other medications had expired.

“Some of the medicines were also fake and unregistered,” he said.

Earlier, other violations were also committed in the health sector in the region, with four doctors fined for forging medical reports. They were working at the emergency department of a hospital affiliated with the Ministry of Health.

The general directorate also imposed fines against 423 medical facilities for various violations.
