The director of a private medical hospital in Al-Jouf denied a news item published in social media that the hospital is responsible for the death of a female citizen after she took a prescribed painkiller.

The husband of the woman said his wife bought the painkiller from a pharmacy with a prescription written by a female doctor of the hospital.

The medical director of the facility in Sakakah was quoted as saying in a statement to a local newspaper that the patient, who died recently, came to the clinic to apply for approval to get treatment through the insurance system.

The husband said his wife suffered a toothache. “Around 8:30, my wife and I went to the medical complex and a female doctor there prescribed a painkiller for her and we bought it from a pharmacy inside the complex,” he explained.

He said when they both got home his wife took the medicine and after two hours had difficulty breathing and he immediately took her to the general hospital in the city but she died as soon as they reached the hospital.

Fahd Al-Quraie, official spokesman for Health Affairs Department in Al-Jouf, said the department will issue an official statement on the incident.
