Health Undersecretary for Public Health Abdulaziz bin Saeed will launch World Diabetes Day on Friday during a program organized by the National Center for Diabetes.

“The Ministry of Health (MoH) is keen to activate World Diabetes Day which falls on Nov. 14 every year,” said Faisal bin Saeed Al-Zahrani, MoH spokesman.

He noted that the slogan for the event, “Diabetes and Healthy Eating,” is timely and appropriate considering the lifestyle of many citizens and residents of the Kingdom.

“The aim of the celebration is to engender physical fitness and promote health awareness for all patients with diabetes,” he said.

He added that the message “is addressed to all — young and old — so that they take the necessary precautions to avoid being sick with diabetes.”

“In this regard, the MoH is determined to provide the best possible health and educational services to all residents of the Kingdom,” he said.

He noted that according to survey conducted in the Kingdom for 2013, diabetes prevalence reached 13.4 percent.
