Schools in Makkah, Jeddah to remain closed today
All government schools in Makkah, Jeddah and Yanbu will remain closed on Tuesday due to heavy rain forecast.
Classes at the government schools in the coastal regions of Tabuk province will also be suspended following heavy rain lashing the regions.
Most of the community and private and international schools in Jeddah, including International Indian School and Pakistan International School have announced that Tuesday will be a holiday.
The General Department of Education in Makkah region announced that all government schools in the Makkah region and its governorates will remain closed on Tuesday.
Abdul Aziz Al-Thaqfi, spokesman of education at Makkah province, said that the decision to suspend classes have been taken following the directive of Muhammad Al-Harthy, director general of education in the province, after warning from the Presidency of Meteorology and Environment and the Civil Defense about weather fluctuations and considering the safety of students.
Bakri Assas, president of Umm Al-Qura University, announced that classes at the university will be suspended for today.
The General Department of Education in Jeddah announced that all schools in Jeddah, Rabigh, Khulais and all towns under the governorate will remain closed on Tuesday.
International Indian School-Jeddah Principal Syed Masood Ahmed told Saudi Gazette that the school will remain closed on Tuesday following a directive from the Ministry of Education.
Amjad Bhatti of Pakistan International School (English Section) announced that the classes will be suspended.
Pakistan International School Aziziyah also announced holiday.
Sreedevi V. Menon, principal of Jeddah’s New Al Wurood International School for Girls, said the boy’s and girl’s sections of the school will not be working Tuesday.
Al-Mawarid International School and Hala International School also announced holiday.
The Director of Education in Yanbu Muhammad Al-Oqaibi announced holiday in all schools in the region.
The General Department of Education in Tabuk province announced that schools in the coastal regions of Al-Wajh, Duba, Haql, Umlaj, and Al-Bidau will remain closed Tuesday following heavy rains.
