The White House has praised the efforts of Saudi Arabia to cut off funding for the Daesh terrorist group, local media reported Wednesday.

“We have seen some significant international effort to eliminate funding lines off Daesh. This effort is being led by a number of Saudi officials, and we appreciated their contribution in this regard,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest was quoted as saying.

Earnest also praised the efforts of the states that provide military contributions to combating Daesh, saying: “There are 20 countries that offer military help to the fight against Daesh. Another 15 countries provide training to local troops in Iraq and Syria.”

He also spoke of the German-Emirati coordination involving the participation of 25 countries aimed at achieving stability in the areas liberated from Daesh.

The White House spokesman revealed that there are steps in place by 34 countries around the world to arrest individuals who seek to travel to Iraq and Syria to fight in alongside Daesh.
