Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman gives top priority to philanthropic work and humanitarian issues, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) quoted Prince Sultan Bin Salman, president of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage, and chairman of the board of directors of the Disabled Children’s Association (DCA), as saying on Sunday.

The prince made the remarks after signing the contracts for a twin tower investment project worth SR140 million in Makkah on behalf of the charity with representatives of a number of national construction companies.

He said the Kingdom is a pioneer in charitable and humanitarian work. He said the government of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has contributed immensely to sustaining the activities of the charitable organizations.

Prince Sultan Bin Salman said the Kingdom since the era of its founder King Abdul Aziz till today has been keen on carrying out humanitarian deeds.

He lauded social responsibility initiatives by individuals and national establishments to support charitable work Kingdomwide. He confirmed that when the citizens and national establishments have confidence in charitable societies, they take the initiative to support them immediately.

The 12-story twin towers, named after King Salman and the late Crown Prince Sultan, in Makkah will create a permanent source of revenue for the activities of the Disabled Children’s Association. The project, to be carried out on a 5,700 square meter area of land belonging to the charity in Naeem District on Hada-Taif Road, will take 36 months to complete.

King Salman laid the foundation stone for the twin towers last Ramadan. The King also donated SR50 million to support the charity project.

Prince Sultan Bin Salman said with the annual budget of the association which runs 13 centers all over the Kingdom reaching SR120 million, finding permanent sources of income for the charity became a challenge.

Each of the two towers will have a hotel with ample parking facilities, restaurants and shopping malls. King Salman Tower with a built-up area exceeding 20,000 square meters will have a hotel with 255 rooms and 14 suites and a mall, while Prince Sultan Tower, with a built-up area of 18,000 square meters, will have a hotel with 250 rooms, a shopping area and a food court.
