Egyptian policemen guard the scene of the El Sayad restaurant which was attacked in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday.

A group of young men firebombed a nightclub here, following a dispute after two of them were not let in early Friday, setting of a blaze that killed 16 people and wounded three, authorities said.

Police are looking for six people suspected in the attack, which came after two of them were banned from entering the club-and-eatery in Cairo’s Agouza district. The El-Sayad restaurant is not officially a nightclub but turns into a bar overnight.

After the two men were not allowed to enter El Sayad, they “went and drank alcohol somewhere else, brought four others with them and came on three motorcycles at around 6 in the morning,” said an official.

“They then threw a Molotov cocktail at the entrance of the place,” he said. “This caused the fire and the smoke and the 16 deaths.”

Eleven of the victims were staff and employees of the club, and one of the bodies is a woman, he added.
