Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman has issued a directive to officials for finding ways to sort out traffic jams in the city.

Wuhaib Al-Sahli, assistant undersecretary of the Madinah secretariat for developmental affairs, said work has already started on ensuring smooth traffic flow on major thoroughfares, according to a report in a local publication on Wednesday.

Traffic on Imam Muslim road has been reduced with the collective effort of various government agencies, and work would start next week to improve traffic flows at the intersection on Prince Naif Road near the German Hospital, he said.

Efforts are also under way to sort out the situation at the intersection of Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz Road with the old airport road, and the King Abdulaziz roundabout, the report stated.

Al-Sahli said that the authorities understand the magnitude of the problem and solutions are being formulated to account for various public projects underway in the city, under the guidance of Prince Faisal. He said government agencies are also taking into account input from motorists and other members of the public, with all plans announced through the media to ensure complete transparency.
