The 34-nation alliance will unify the Islamic world against terrorism as well as promote development of Muslim countries, said Ahmed Mohammed Ali, president of Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

Saudi Arabia’s move to form the alliance is praiseworthy and the Muslim countries’ response to the offer is notable, he said.

The IDB president praised the statement of Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman that the new coalition would not be limited to military partnership.

The Islamic coalition will be based on intellectual methods to fight terrorism, he added.

“Also, the Kingdom’s policy is solid since the time of the late King Abdulaziz, who was committed to strengthening the joint efforts of Muslim countries in all areas of life, including development and improving the living conditions of Muslims,” he said.
