Military alliance to protect Ummah from the evils of terrorism: Cabinet
The Council of Ministers on Monday emphasized that the formation of the 34-country Islamic military alliance to combat terror is part of performing the duty of protecting the Islamic Ummah from the evils of all armed terrorist groups and organizations whatever might be their doctrines and names, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
The weekly session of the Cabinet, chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Yamama Palace here, noted that the joint statement with regard to formation of the alliance embodies the unification of efforts to combat terror in all its forms and manifestations and eliminating its objectives and causes.
Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet commended the support of a number of Arab, Islamic and friendly countries, as well as international organizations and parliaments for the Islamic alliance against terrorism.
The Council expressed the Kingdom’s solidarity with the government of Nigeria in confronting terrorism, and standing by its side, following the terror attacks that struck the African country.
Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet denounced the non-compliance and breach of ceasefire by Houthi militias, saying that these won’t help find a peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis.
The session also commended the royal decree to establish the first circuit of the Banking Disputes Committee and formation of committees to settle financial disputes and violations.
The Cabinet approved the memorandum of understanding in the field of tourism signed by the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage and Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism.
Al-Turaifi said the Cabinet approved shifting the headquarters of the General Authority of Civil Aviation from Jeddah to Riyadh within one-and-a-half years.
It also endorsed a number of procedures in the organizational structure of the Environment Council.
