New tourism regulations in 5 months
The Committee on Tourism at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce, in coordination with the branch of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTNH) in Riyadh, recently held an introductory workshop where the topic was the new regulations pertaining to tourism, antiquities, museums, and national heritage.
The new regulations, which will take effect in 5 months, are related to the plans of the tourism authority which aims to consolidate the sector and attract investment in order to boost competition, said Engineer Abdulaziz Al-Hassan, the director of the SCTNH branch in Riyadh.
He said the new regulations drew on the experience of countries with broad and deep-rooted tourism sectors, and would be based on supply and demand in setting prices.
He urged all businessmen and professionals working in the tourism sector to review the new regulations on the SCTNH website and to prepare for implementation by ensuring technical or administrative arrangements are in place by this coming Ramadan.
