The King Khaled International Airport has introduced various services for travelers.

A top official at the Riyadh Passport office said here recently that the travel process for Saudi and Gulf national takes less than 10 minutes at the airport.

A device is kept in front of each employee at the King Khaled International Airport (KKIA) to record his behavior to determine whether he deserves incentives, Brig. Khaled Al-Muqbel, passport director at KKIA, told a local daily here.

Some types of works cause delays, such as difficulties in the fingerprinting process as the traces in their hands take 45 minutes to go.

“I will resign if the travel process of Saudi and GCC nationals exceeds 10 minutes,” Al-Muqbel said, adding that the delays are usually at entry procedures because of fingerprinting process.

On the ongoing project at the airport, he said work and maintenance at that airport is necessary. “The maintenance work throughout eight hours is very disturbing to our staff with loud noises due to the demolition and construction activity. Despite that, the staff give their best.”

On the frequent system crashes, Al-Muqbel said: “There are several reasons — mainly technical. Sometimes the system crashes because the network is linked to a large number of bodies and if a malfunction occurs in one of these places, it affects the whole system.”

A local generic system will be applied at all locations and digital gates will be established soon, he added.
