Flames leap out of the Dammam house on fire.

Two Arab children aged six and 12 years were burned to death while asleep in their apartment after a massive blaze swept through their seven-story building, a local newspaper reported Sunday.

The fire broke out at dawn in the building in the eastern port of Dammam, prompting the Civil Defense to evacuate its nearly 200 dwellers.

The two boys, who lived in the seventh floor, were asleep in their bedroom when the blaze engulfed their apartment, Sabq daily said. Their bodies were charred beyond recognition.

It quoted a Civil Defense spokesman as saying that the fire started in the seventh floor and that the two boys’ parents as well as six other tenants suffered from burns and were taken to hospital.

He said the Civil Defence and police were investigating the cause of the fire.
