‘No offer for Saudi women to work as flight attendants’
Saudi Arabian Airlines never offered jobs to Saudi women as flight attendants on its aircraft, said assistant general manager for public relations and official spokesman Abdulrahman Al-Fahad, without disclosing the reasons behind the decision.
As for employment of women with customer services in the airline’s booking offices throughout the Kingdom and at domestic airports, Al-Fahad confirmed that women are permitted to work in offices which are allocated for women only.
He did not reveal whether or not the airlines might allow women to work as fight attendants or in direct booking offices in the future.
Al-Fahad welcomed a number of queries about Saudi women’s employment as part of the airline’s team in the commercial or sales departments, as well as in financial or informational technology fields, noting that Saudi women have proven their dedication and achievements across many fields, as well as their top quality performances.
On its website, Saudia had posted an opening in one of its departments, describing new employees as “an asset of value” and the employment itself as a “new challenge.”
The airline was first to be founded in the Arabian Peninsula in 1945 with a DC-3 aircraft, and has since moved forward toward excellence, high quality efficiency, safety and customer service recognized by a number of international organizations and regulatory bodies.
