Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior, has praised the governors of administrative regions of the Kingdom in making ‘Nibras,’ an anti-drugs national program, a success.

The crown prince, who is also chairman of the National Anti-drugs Committee, hailed the governors’ role in the launch of anti-drug programs, and also thanked the committee officials for their efforts in the area.

In a statement, Abdul-Elah bin Mohammed Al-Shareef, secretary-general of the committee and assistant director-general of Nibras, described the governors’ efforts as instrumental in the success of the project.

He said the project, which was launched eight months ago, with the support of SABIC, aims at educating the citizens about the dangers of drug abuse and creating a drug-free society.

Al-Shareef said the project has so far been launched in Makkah, Al-Qassim, Eastern Region, Al-Jouf, Northern Borders Region and Tabuk under the patronage of the governors of these regions. Nibras has adopted eight anti-drug programs, endorsed by domestic and international organizations, he said.

He said the project would later be implemented in universities, schools, military and governmental sectors for both males and females according to the plan.

Al-Shareef shed light on the eight-pronged program covering family and child, research and education, addict consultations, information, social media, international contact with experts and specialized organizations, besides dealing with youngsters.
