Iran has released four prisoners with dual Iranian-U.S. nationality, the Tehran public prosecutor was quoted as saying on Saturday.

“In line with orders from the Supreme National Security Council and in the national interest, four Iranian dual national prisoners have been released in a prisoner swap,” Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi was quoted as saying by Iranian news agencies.

Iran’s judiciary did not name the four dual-nationals who were released as part of a prisoner swap.

But Iran’s Fars News Agency said jailed Washington Post bureau Chief Jason Rezaian is one of four dual-national prisoners freed today by Iran’s government.

Rezaian had been convicted and jailed in Iran on spying charges. Last week Al Arabiya News reported that unnamed Americans had contacted Iran for a deal to swap Rezaian.

Along with Rezaian, the agency also named Amir Hekmat and Saeed Abedini among the freed prisoners. Hekmat is a former U.S. marine, and Abedini is a Christian pastor.

The agency did not name the fourth freed prisoner.

A senior U.S. State Department official declined to comment on the Iranian news reports.
