Singer-songwriter and record producer Linda Perry says Lady Gaga doesn’t deserve a songwriting credit for the Oscar-nominated song “Til it Happens to You,” from the college campus sexual assault documentary “The Hunting Ground.”

Perry said in a series of tweets Monday that Lady Gaga only performed the song credited to Diane Warren and Lady Gaga. Perry says she has Warren’s original demo to the song and the final version changes only one line.

Warren disputes Perry’s allegation. She says “Til it Happens to You” is “a special collaboration” between her and Lady Gaga.

A publicist for Lady Gaga hasn’t responded to an e-mail seeking comment.

Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences regulations state only the principal songwriters of a song can be nominated.

Perry later apologized. “My sincere apologies. I made a mistake to comment. I wasn’t in the room when the #TIHTY was being written. More importantly, I wish the focus to remain on the great importance of the song and the message of the film,” she wrote.
