Undersecretary at the Interior Ministry and member of the Anti-Narcotics National Committee, Dr. Ahmad bin Mohammed Al-Salim, warned against malicious media campaigns which are targeting the unity of the country.

Al-Salim, who was speaking at the ceremony to announce the appointment of Royal Court adviser Dr. Azzam Al-Dakhil as “ambassador” of the national project for the prevention of narcotics (Nibras) in Riyadh, also warned against suspicious media sites which aim to hit the morale of the Saudi people.

“These systematic campaigns are instigating disunity, and our young people have to be aware of these sites and those who stand behind them and, instead, rally around the leadership and deter those who use hatred as a tool to undermine the homeland, disintegrate its unity, and spoil its youth with drugs, and deviant behaviors and thoughts,” he said.

Al-Salim called for a solid stand against those who try to harm the youth sector which may fall victim to drug traffickers.

In this context, he warned against the harmful effects of drugs, which have been proved by international studies and reports, notably on their high degree of toxicity.

He said the Kingdom is envied for having the blessings of security, loyalty to the leadership and commitment to faith and unity.

The event was attended by Nibras Secretary-General Abdulilah bin Mohammed Al-Sharif. He said the nomination of Al-Dakhil to this mission was based on his devotion and loyalty to this country as well as his enthusiasm to face this scourge and minimize its spread in the country.

“We have to congratulate ourselves on having a man with these qualities and being lucky to have his cooperation with us in this national project for the prevention of narcotics (Nibras),” he said.

For his part, Al-Dakhail expressed his appreciation for the confidence reposed in him and his selection as the project ambassador.

“Drugs are the scourge of the community and, therefore, our collective responsibility is to be aware of their dangers and the objectives of their traffickers,” he said.

He said he was happy to be an ambassador of Nibras which, he said, maximizes his responsibility toward the sons and daughters of the country.

He appreciated the positive role being played by Crown Prince Prince Mohammed bin Naif in the fight against terror and narcotics.
