Notorious drug lord taken out
Jazan police killed one of the most dangerous drug dealers in an encounter on Thursday.
Known as “Siko,” the drug dealer, an Arab national, was shot dead when he resisted arrest during a raid on his hideout in Al-Darb.
According to Jazan police chief Col. Nasser Al-Duwaisi, a cornered Siko started firing at the police to escape. Police returned fire in which he was killed. His hideout was full of Captagon pills and other dangerous drugs.
In a similar encounter last week at the same place, a security man and a gunman had died during an exchange of fire.
Sgt. Faisal Hasan Al-Qaisi was fired at by the illegal expats who had taken refuge in the rugged valleys of the region. The criminals were using the hideouts to peddle drugs.
During 2014, security patrols confiscated 371,652 packages of qat, weighing a total of approximately 154 tons as well as 5,158 blocks of hashish, 1,332 Captagon tablets, and 2,368 alcohol bottles weighing 77 tons.
