The Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm and Operation Restoration of Hope have helped “defend the Islamic faith from the expansion of the Safavids,” said Grand Mufti Abdul Aziz Al-Asheikh on Tuesday.

Speaking at a welcoming ceremony for scholars at Janadriyah, he said: “This expansion of the Safavids is intended to harm Islam and Muslims. It is necessary to be united at a time when the enemies are trying to sow ignorance in our community and disturbing the Islamic nation’s peace and stability.”

About Saudi-led military operations in Yemen, the grand mufti said: “Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman launched Operation Decisive Storm in coordination with Arab and Islamic nations to defend our faith which is facing a devious attack from the Safavids.”

He called for “unity in the Islamic community” and stressed the need for exposing the ill intentions of the enemies of Islam. He also called for measures to prevent anything that leads to deviation.

Sheikh Ahmad Al-Murabit of Mauritania said that Sunnis are “currently facing miserable attempts by the enemies who are trying to distort the rightful approach of our ancestors.” He called for a fitting response to attacks on Sunnis.
