Health Minister Khalid Al-Falih visited the medical complex in Thuwal, near Jeddah, on Tuesday. The facility was set up by Saudi Aramco, whose chairman is the health minister himself.

According to the minister, the complex provides primary health care and preventive and curative services to the inhabitants of the city.

Registering his thanks to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosque King Salman for the health care provided to the people, Al-Falih said that he is also thankful to Makkah Gov. Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, who takes a keen interest in the welfare of the people in Thuwal.

The minister said the health services available at the complex would cover people of all age groups and are geared to treat all types of health problems. The complex includes a department for oncology, laboratory services, dialysis services, cardiac and renal departments, a separate department for chronic diseases, emergency services and pediatric and maternity departments.

Millions of Muslims from all over the world visit Makkah region every year for Umrah and Haj. To cover all the emergencies and health requirements, the government plans to offer 10,454 beds with 20,000 health facilities in the next five years in different areas of the region.

Al-Faisal emphasized the importance of delivering the full range of health services, at all provincial centers, to the public. He stressed the need to complete health projects in the region in accordance with the scheduled time-table without delay.

Projects currently under way are the Jeddah Medical Tower for Childbirth and Children, with a 400-bed capacity; the Eye Medical Tower in Jeddah with a 200-bed capacity; Psychiatric Hospital in Jeddah with a capacity for 500 beds; Al-Jamum Hospital with a 100-bed capacity; Makkah Hospital with a capacity for 500 beds; Women’s Hospital in Qunfudah with 200-bed capacity; Amal Mental Hospital in Taif with a 500-bed capacity; and Children’s Hospital in Taif with 300 beds.

The projects that are under study for construction are King Faisal Medical Tower in Makkah with 200 beds; Children’s Hospital in Makkah with 300 beds; Bil-Harith Hospital with 50 beds; Qunfudah Hospital with 50 beds; King Fahd Medical Tower in Makkah with 200 beds; Namira Hospital with 50 beds; South Qunfudah Hospital with 100 beds; Umm Al-Doom Hospital in Taif with 50 beds; Al-Laith Hospital with 100 beds; North Jeddah Hospital with 200 beds; King Abdul Aziz Medical Tower in Makkah; and King Faisal Hospital in Taif.
