GUN

A Saudi man in his forties shot his mother dead at his residence in the district of Bader, west of Riyadh, on Saturday afternoon. The suspect was arrested, but motive of the murder was yet to be ascertained.

Col. Fawaz bin Jameel Al-Maiman, spokesman of Riyadh police, said the police rushed to the scene of the crime soon after receiving a tip-off given from a resident of that area, but the woman was already dead

“We were able to arrest the killer in no time,” Al-Maiman said, adding that the man confessed to the crime and also surrendered the gun.

The Shifa district police are investigating the case. On completion of inquiry, the police will refer the case to the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution for legal proceedings against the accused.

Saturday’s was the third murder case handled by the Riyadh police during the past seven days.

On Monday, a Saudi youth was killed by a Saudi man due to personal differences in Aziziyah district. The same day, Egyptian expatriate was run over by three Saudis due to some arguments arising from a traffic friction.

The police were quick enough to arrest the four killers in the two separate incidents.
