Daesh owns up officer’s killing

A retired Saudi security officer has been shot dead in an attack claimed Monday by Daesh, according to AFP.
Police spokesman Col. Mohammed Al-Harbi said a man in the Abu Arish area of Jazan region, bordering Yemen, reported at about 2:30 a.m. that his father “was being shot at from an unknown source at his farm.”
Daesh said in a statement that it had shot dead retired Brig. Ahmed Fayie Assiri “at his farm in Abu Arish area of Jazan.”
Police said a “criminal investigation” was under way into the killing.
