Bangla expats observe Mother Language Day
The Bangladeshi ambassador to the Kingdom has urged his countrymen to work hard to enhance their country’s image in the Kingdom and also to contribute toward the development of their nation.
Mohammed Golam Moshi was addressing his countrymen to commemorate the Great Martyrs Day and International Mother Language Day at the Diplomatic Quarter.
The day’s program included recitation from the Holy Qur’an, ceremonial hoisting of the national flag at half-mast by the ambassador, and reading of the messages of the country’s president, prime minister and the state minister for foreign affairs.
The embassy also organized art, essay, poem and recitation competitions for children as a part of the day’s program.
All officers and members of the staff of the mission, more than 300 Bangladesh nationals living in Riyadh and suburbs, teachers and students of Bangladesh international schools in Riyadh attended the ceremony.
Moshi said that Bangladesh has definitely made significant progress during the last seven years. He also mentioned that the country has great potential to forge ahead.
Highlighting the significance and spirit of the day, he underlined the need for renewing the commitment and reinforcing concerted efforts for the socio-economic development of Bangladesh. He expressed deep appreciation for the expatriate community for their invaluable contribution to the development of Bangladesh.
He urged them to do more to accelerate the socio-economic developments of “their beloved motherland.” The ambassador highlighted the initiatives taken by the embassy to enhance bilateral cooperation between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, “particularly toward the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Saudi Arabia.”
Besides commending the services rendered by the martyrs who sacrificed their life for their country, the envoy also paid rich tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and highlighted his legendary leadership in the language movement.
