Al-Qassabi calls on welfare house residents
Social Affairs Minister Majed Al-Qassabi on Friday afternoon visited the Social Welfare House in the Saudi capital to see firsthand the services rendered at the nursing home.
Ibrahim Abdullah Al-Manea, director general of the Ministry of Social Affairs for Riyadh region, accompanied the minister on the occasion.
On arrival, Al-Qassabi was greeted by nursing home residents including Saad Al-Dosari, who was blind when he arrived at the welfare house. But after nine years he regained his eyesight after undergoing an intensive treatment program through the help of the Ministry of Social Affairs branch in Riyadh.
Al-Dosari expressed his gratitude to Al-Qassabi who said, “I hope that you and others are satisfied with the services provided by the ministry at the welfare house in Riyadh.”
Al-Qassabi also asked about problems they faced or things they need to make their stay at the welfare house more convenient and comfortable.
He expressed his thanks to the staff for their efforts in taking care of all the nursing home’s residents as well as to the hospitals which provided them with health care, especially in the field of ophthalmology.
He told the staff that he was hoping they will always remain helpful and patient with the residents who “may have become a little bit sensitive because of their situation and therefore need understanding.”
“You and I are luckier than they are because we are not the ones being helped and this must be an incentive for us to be more understanding regarding their plight,” he said.
