The imams of various mosques in the Kingdom have praised the “Imprint Homeland” fingerprint drive against extremism which started in Makkah region earlier this month.

The Imams and preachers also stressed on national youth campaigns against extremism, saying that the Kingdom needs to unite its youth and spread awareness against extremism and terrorism.

The campaign, initiated by the Makkah governorate, is mainly targeting a million young population, both male and female, through 150 events, with the cooperation of Makkah Youth Society for Volunteers, Commission for Entrepreneurs and the region’s Youth Forum.

Ali Al-Ghoneim, imam and preacher of Abu Bakr Mosque, said the youth is important for the progress and development of a country.

“Unity is also very important to fight against the enemies of the nation. Raising awareness against extremism and terrorism is the national duty of the community and society.”

He said that both citizens and residents must be loyal to the Kingdom. “We must intensify our efforts to protect our children and country from extremism.”

Saeed Al-Turki, Imam and preacher of Al-Farouq Mosque, said the Saudi youth have the ability to protect their homeland and nation, and what they are doing through this national campaign is certainly a good job.

“They should spread awareness among young people against extremism because this is the need of the hour,” he said.

“When we see strife and wars in many countries, we thank Almighty Allah for the blessing of security that we are enjoying. It’s our duty to protect our homeland and thank those who are giving us protection and security so we can live in peace. We must fight those who try to create discord and sectarianism in our homeland and educate people from all walks of life about the importance of unity and solidarity.” he said.

During the ongoing fingerprint campaign, under the patronage of Makkah Gov. Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, the youth is collecting fingerprints of citizens and residents with a vow against extremism and intolerance, in support of the security of the homeland.
