SR5m reward to nab killers of soldier
The Ministry of Interior has announced a reward of up to SR5 million to anyone providing information leading to the arrest of the killers of a Special Emergency Forces soldier in Qassim.
The victim, identified as Seargent Badar Hamdi Sarikh Al-Rashidi, was brutally murdered in a remote area, the video clip of which sparked an uproar on social media. Six of Al-Rashidi’s relatives, who are suspected to be involved in the murder, are at large.
Gen. Mansoor Al-Turki, spokesman of the Interior Ministry, said the soldier’s body with signs of violence was found lying next to a car by a police patrol more than 10 days ago.
Evidence indicates that the suspects persuaded Al-Rashidi to join them on a trip to the desert and, once in a remote area, they assaulted and killed him.
He called on the suspects to surrender so that they can be fairly tried in the Shariah court.
The spokesman said anyone with information about any of the wanted men should immediately call the toll free security number 990 or report it to the nearest police station.
He said that a reward of SR1 million will be given to anyone providing information leading to the arrest of one suspect and SR5 million for the arrest of more than one suspect.
“If the information leads to thwarting a terrorist operation, the reward might go as high as SR7 million,” he added.
Although the Interior Ministry spokesman did not specify whether the murder was a terrorist act, he emphasized that targeting members of the security forces might constitute such an attack and that the nation must be protected from the evils of terrorism.
The suspects have been identified as Wael Muslim Nile Rashidi, aged 28, (national identity number 1059828754); Moataz Muslim Nile Rashidi, aged 24, (ID 1078075205); Nile Muslim Nile Rashidi, aged 18, (ID 1102497797); Ibrahim Khalif Atqaa Rashidi, aged 19, (ID 1098618554); Zaher Salem Nile Rashidi, aged 32, (ID 1089680266); and Sami Salem Nile Rashidi, aged 24, (ID 1080784729).
