Economists have pointed out that the rising fuel prices in the Kingdom recently will have positive effects given that they will likely decrease the total time spent in driving cars and increase public awareness about energy conservation, and using the car only when necessary.

This is expected to ease traffic congestion and boost commercial operations because of the smooth movement of trucks along the roads.

They confirmed that fuel prices should remain in line with international prices to achieve stability between the local and global markets, confirming that the devising of plans and programs to this effect will ensure that price liberalization will not be exploited. They said that the liquidity provided by increased prices can be directed toward various projects that benefit the nation.

An investor in transportation, Farouq Khoqir, said that the rising prices contribute to easing traffic congestion, especially in large cities.
