Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, second deputy premier and minister of defense, arrived in the United States on Monday evening, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

During the official visit, which came in response to a directive from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and an invitation from the US government, the Deputy Crown Prince will meet high ranking American officials, including President Barack Obama, and Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter.

Their talks will cover mainly the ways to further bolster bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern.

The official delegation, led by Prince Muhammad, includes Minister of Finance Ibrahim Al-Assaf, Minister of Commerce and Investment Majed Al-Qasabi, Minister of Foreign Adel Al-Jubeir, Minister of Culture and Information Adel Al-Turaifi, and Minister of Energy, Industry, and Mineral Resources Khaled Al-Falih.

According to sources, the Deputy Crown Prince will be in Washington till June 16 and then will travel to New York for meetings with financial firms.

The Deputy Crown Prince will discuss with President Obama and the US administration the crises in the region, especially the Syrian imbroglio.

According to US sources, Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad will discuss regional issues, especially Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Libya and Gulf security. They will also deal with the Islamic military alliance that is headed by the Kingdom to combat terrorism, apart from the war against Daesh (so-called IS) and Al-Qaeda.

In New York, Prince Muhammad will discuss with heads of US financial institutions Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the sources of income.

He is also expected to meet UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.
