Grand Mufti Abdulaziz Al-Asheikh has renewed his warning against anonymous websites managed from abroad to ignite sedition and create animosity and chaos in the Kingdom.

During a television program, hosted by Abdulrahman Al-Omari, he called for more awareness and alertness about the evil designs of the enemies who use social media to harm and defame Saudi Arabia, its leaders and scholars.

The grand mufti said websites could contain many lies and false rumors that aim to disrupt the security of the Kingdom and spoil its reputation.

“This country adheres to the true Islamic doctrine and Shariah. It’s safe and independent, and enjoys good living; its leaders and citizens are connected with loving relations. All this has angered the enemy, who started spreading lies through websites.”

He said that the majority of such Internet accounts are managed from outside the Kingdom by those who hate the nation and try to harm Islam and security of the Kingdom.

“We should stand against this by rejecting falsehood. We should give the right advice to people who are deceived through these accounts, so that they shun them.”

The grand mufti said, “One of our children was influenced by these websites, so we advised and warned him against false propaganda and corrected him.”
