Riyadh hails 18 ambassadors’ thumbs down to Houthis, Saleh
The Cabinet on Monday hailed the Group of 18 Ambassadors on Yemen for its statement condemning the unconstitutional actions by elements of the General People’s Congress party, Houthis and their supporters in Sanaa.
Yemen was among a number of regional and international issues, including the atrocities on Palestinians in Israel, that were taken up for discussion during the session, which was chaired by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah.
Culture and Information Minister Adel Al-Toraifi said in a statement to SPA that the G18 Ambassadors expressed concern that the unilateral actions by the rebels are making the search for a peaceful solution more difficult and increasing divisions in the war-wracked country.
Stating that the rebels’ actions will not address political, economic and security problems of Yemen, the G18 Ambassadors renewed the call to adhere to the references of the peaceful solution represented by the initiative of GCC and its executive mechanisms, the outputs of the National Dialogue Conference and relevant UN resolutions, including the resolution 2216.
The Cabinet condemned the serious escalation of violence against Palestinians and increasing racist attacks by Israeli occupation forces and extremist settlers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It stressed that these attacks and policies represent a flagrant provocation of Muslims and continuing assault on their religious rights in Al-Aqsa Mosque, which are in violation of all international conventions and principles of human rights.
The Cabinet renewed the call on the United Nations to move quickly to put an end to all Israeli violations and systematic crimes against the Palestinian people.
The Cabinet also strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack at a wedding party in Turkey, which claimed more than 50 lives.
