The ISIS militant group claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing that killed at least 27 people in a Shiite-majority area of Baghdad on Saturday.

ISIS said in an online statement that a bomber wearing an explosive vest carried out the attack in the Shaab area of the Iraqi capital, which also wounded at least 36 people, according to security and medical officials.

Police said a suicide bomber detonated an explosive vest inside a tent filled with people taking part in Shiite Ashura rituals, mourning the killing of Prophet Mohammad’s grandson Hussein in the 7th century.

The tent was set up in a crowded market in the city’s northern al-Shaab district.
