Saudi King Salman has arrived Monday in Qatar to offer his condolences following the death of the Gulf country’s former Emir Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Thani, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The former Emir of Qatar passed away on Sunday evening, at the age of 84.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the grandson of the late ruler, has announced three days of national morning for the sad occasion.

Sheikh Hamad served as the Emir of the GCC nation from 1972 till 1995.

Meanwhile, King Salman was accompanied by delegation which included Prince Khalid bin Fahd bin Khalid, Prince Meqren bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, a number of princes and senior officials, SPA reported.

The Qatari emir, meanwhile, expressed his “utmost appreciation” the king, “prayed to God to prolong, forever, the brethren relations binding the two fraternal countries and peoples.”
