A Saudi officer has died of his injuries after being shot at in the eastern city of Dammam early on Saturday.

Adel Khardali was killed after an unknown gunman opened fire as he was inside his private vehicle after work just past midnight in the al-Noor neighborhood in north-west Dammam.

AlArabiya.net has published first pictures of the 30-year-old man, who served on Saudi Arabia’s army ranks in al-Qatif for nearly seven years.

According to his wife, whom he was married to for the past four years, Khardali dreamed of moving back to Jizan to be close to her and his family.

Police are now opening investigations into the attack to conclude motive, a spokesman from the Saudi ministry of interior has said.

The attack comes less than a month after two other police officers were killed after coming under heavy gunfire in the same city.

That October 25 incident happened as one of the officers was driving his private car back to his residence when three unknown gunman started opening fire on the vehicle, leading to fatal injuries.
