“He slit the throat of his wife and called the police,” said the Press Secretary of the Mecca Police Region, Colonel Ati Ben Attia al-Qureshi. A security patrol was following up a communication made at 10 Wednesday morning. The Saudi citizen reported a sharp disagreement with his Asian wife, asking the security agencies to come to his home in North Shuhada neighborhood in Taiif. When the security patrol rushed to the said location, the suspect came out with his clothing stained with blood amid his three children wailing loudly and shouting “Daddy killed Mom”.

He was taken into custody, and transported to the competent authority. Teams of Red Crescent, forensics and the coroner office arrived at the crime scene.

The coroner’s office examined the body of the wife and the autopsy showed clear stab wounds in the neck, abdomen and the back, and the primary medical inspection revealed that the crime occurred in the early hours of the morning, long ago before the killer’s phone call.

Colonel Dr. Ati Ben Attia al-Qureshi, the media spokesman of the Police in Mecca Region, explained that the unified operations center (911) received yesterday a communiqué of the death of a woman in her forties as a result of multiple stab wounds.

The criminal investigation officers and other relevant authorities of the province of Taiif police rushed to the location, where the suspect was taken into custody, before handing him over to the competent authority.
