Saudi donates $680 mln in aid for 33 disaster-prone countries

The bulk of the projects come during the harsh winter months across the world, where refugees and displaced people in poverty-stricken countries are especially vulnerable.


King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aids has announced that since its founding, it has donated more than $680 mln in aid toward at least 33 disaster-struck countries.

In total, the center has launched nearly 172 special projects and while it has strategic partnerships with 98 individuals and companies.

The bulk of the projects come during the harsh winter months across the world, where refugees and displaced people in poverty-stricken countries are especially vulnerable.

The centre also focuses on a program called the “Food Security and Shelter Program” where it donates tons of dates to countries who need it. In Lebanon for example, the center has donated 800 tonnes of dates to refugees inside the country while Yemen has received shipments up to 647 tonnes in the past years, according to the center’s annual report.

In Yemen, the center has focused efforts in establishing initiatives that include providing food security, improving living conditions in communities that remain intact, and establishing safe alternative geographical locations and support systems for people displaced by the conflict.
