Saudi FM says Turkey ties are ‘strategic’

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu (R) and Foreign Minister of Saudi Arabia Adel Al Jubeir (L) react during a meeting in Ankara, on February 8, 2017.

Saudi foreign minister Adel al-Jubeir on Wednesday said Riyadh’s ties with Turkey are strategically binding.

Jubeir was speaking in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Syrian rebels and Turkish special forces have together made important progress in northern Syria in the fight against ISIS, Cavusoglu said.

Cavusoglu also said that the next target would be Syria’s Raqqa.

Syrian rebels supported by Turkish armed forces seized control of strategically important hills around the ISIS-controlled town of al-Bab after operations launched overnight, Turkey’s military said on Wednesday.
