ISIS leader severely wounded, reports claim

ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been severely wounded in air strikes targeting ISIS strongholds near the Syrian border, an Iraqi security expert said.

In a Facebook post, security expert Fadel Abu Raqif says intelligence information confirms that Al-Baghdadi was injured after three air strikes targeted ISIS forces in the areas of Okashat, Zalla Al Sabaee and Al Obeidi.

Al-Baghdadi was taken to the Syrian side of the border for treatment, Abu Raqif added.

Iraqi media similarly reported that scores of ISIS leaders were either killed or injured alongside Al-Baghdadi in the air strikes.
