BJP leader Yogi Adityanath said “similar action is needed to contain terror activities in this country.”

A firebrand lawmaker belonging to the ruling BJP in India has praised US President Donald Trump’s executive order banning people from seven Muslim-majority countries and has said that “similar action is needed to contain terror activities in this country.”

Yogi Adityanath, who is a leading face of the BJP in the poll-bound state of Uttar Pradesh, said that the situation in his state is similar to the Kashmir Valley around three decades ago, when “Kashmiri Pandits were terrorized and forced to leave”. He has been delivering campaign speeches all over the state.

Trump has ordered “extreme vetting” of people entering the US from seven Muslim-majority countries and banned the entry of Syrian refugees until further notice, as part of new measures to “keep radical Islamic terrorists” out of America.

Adityanath also applauded Russian President Vladimir Putin’s 2013 decision to not grant special rights to any minority community.
