Scores of ISIS militants have surrendered to Iraqi forces, according to Iraqi security sources, as cleansing operations continue west of Mosul, following the capture of the airport in Iraq’s second largest city.

Lt. General Raed Shakir Jawdat, Commander of federal police, stated that his forces are advancing towards the airport neighborhood following securing of the city airport.

According to Lt. General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, al-Guzlani camp was recaptured by counter-terrorism forces after two days of clashes with ISIS militants.

Military sources said ISIS defense lines in ‘al-Mamoun’ and ‘Tel al-Roman’ neighborhoods have crumpled amid hits by Iraqi forces backed by air support from the international alliance.
