Indian Consulate holds blood donation camp in Jeddah


A three-day Blood Donation Camp 2017 held in February was conducted at the Consulate General of India in Jeddah.

Senior officials and staff from the Ministry of Health (MOH), the International Medical Center (IMC), consulate officials, Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum (IPWF) members and the Indian community attended the event.

Mohammed Noor Rahman Sheikh, Consul General of India in Jeddah, inaugurated the camp, which was organized by IPWF in coordination with MOH, IMC and the Indian community.

Dr. Ali H. Al Shami, administration chairman of the laboratory and blood bank in Jeddah at the MOH, congratulated the Indian community and the donors for taking the initiative.

“By giving blood you are giving life to people and your blood will go to the right people at the right time,” he said.

Noor Rahman Sheikh thanked the MOH, IMC and IPWF for their outstanding support for holding the first blood drive camp at the Consulate General of India in Jeddah.

“It is a great honor that we are the first among the consulates to take such a noble initiative, thanks to the MOH officials and all those who have cooperated to make it a great success,” he said.

An estimated 325 members of the Indian community came donated the blood. A total of 18 people donated blood on Thursday, the first day of the camp, while 88 donated on Friday and 60 on Saturday. The remaining individuals were unable to donate blood due to various medical reasons.
