Al-Hudaydah port is the only port left to reclaim in order to ensure that humanitarian and relief aid can be delivered to those suffering.

Yemen’s government welcomed the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Yemen to set up a plan to use different ports instead of al-Hudaydah port in order to deliver humanitarian and relief aid to 17 million starving civilians in the country’s provinces.

The legitimate government explained that Aden and Mukalla ports and land routes with Saudi Arabia are fully capable and ready to receive aid deliveries, and ensure it will not be obstructed or taken by the Houthi militia.

The government and coalition members are working on making Mokha port operational so that it can receive aid deliveries as well.

Al-Hudaydah port is the only port left to reclaim in order to ensure that humanitarian and relief aid can be delivered to those suffering.

Major General Ahmed Asiri, the spokesman for the Coalition Forces supporting the legitimate government in Yemen, confirmed in an interview with London-based Alsharq Al-Awsat that the UN inspection agency in Djibouti that allows shipments to pass through to al-Hudaydah port is useless.

He added that the militias are still taking advantage of al-Hudaydah port to smuggle in weapons and indulge in vandalism, and the coalition’s next goal is to retake the port.

Military operations will end when the militias commit to the UN resolution and the Gulf initiative and to the outcome of the dialogue, Major General Asiri pointed out.
